ReCheck’s Service for Data Exchange Backed by æternity

ReCheck’s beta version of the data exchange web tool for businesses is now live. The online service features intuitive interface and improved user experience. All transactions that are executed through the tool will be recorded on the æternity blockchain. Digital proofs from the transactions can be later verified through the æternity blockchain explorer.

Built with Privacy as a Primary Concern

In order to start using the online service, users have to first create blockchain digital identity through the ReCheck web app. Currently, the web app can be loaded on user smartphone’s browser and soon it will be available with mobile apps for Android and iOS. Generally, it takes less than one minute to create a decentralised digital identity on a smartphone. Once the blockchain identity is created, users can start uploading, reading, and sharing files.

The beta version of the data exchange tool supports all kinds of file formats, as long as the size of the file does not exceed 10 MB. Functionalities such as “search” and “categories” enable users to easily organize all of the uploaded items. The functionalities that have been built it will only become more to further facilitate and optimize the user experience. All files that are uploaded are being encrypted on the client browser and not on ReCheck’s server, like most cloud-based solutions work. That is the cornerstone of the privacy by design approach, and so only the owner of the file can decrypt and read its content.

Data exchange is bulletproof, as the process is shielded through end-to-end encryption. Stakeholders can send data without revealing irrelevant to the transaction personal information. The sent data can only be accessed and decrypted by the blockchain identity of the recipient through their private key. That way the sender can be confident when they share data, because they will know who and when has accessed and read the sent data.

Zero-knowledge and Immutable Digital Proofs

The data-sharing process has been developed with zero-knowledge policy as foundation and a building block. No one can read your data, even ReCheck! The online service offers the finest possible protection, as the files you record on the web app will be encrypted on your browser before they are uploaded and stored.

Moreover, a fingerprint (hash) and timestamp are generated as digital proofs for each executed transaction through the web app. Events for interactions with data such as upload, open, and share are signed and recorded in the decentralized ledger. Digital evidence is immutable and it can later be verified by the very participants in the transaction.

  4. Scan the QR code on the login page with the camera in your web app.
  5. Register some data on æternity blockchain, share it, and sign it.
