A Message From the Event Organizer
“Despite the Corona crisis: people from all continents met here to make the world a better place”, says Dr Holger Bengs, initiator of ECP. Dr Bengs urges that we need innovations fast, considering climate change, our environment and health challenges. The ECP is greatly supported by the ECP foundation ipOcean that is a legally secure marketplace for the exchange of ideas and innovations. “We stay confident, but in line with the situation, the 5th ECP in February 2021 will remain digital.”, adds Dr Holger Bengs.
Focus Areas
Dr. Daniel Teichmann, founder and CEO of Hydrogenious LOHC Technologies, discussed scientific and commercial aspects of implementing the novel hydrogen technology. In his keynote speech, he emphasized the importance of mutual cooperation between stakeholders in order to find sustainable alternatives to the oil-based economy.
In the panel “Sustainability: How does our financial ecosystem influence innovations in chemistry” Kristina Jeromin, Head of Group Sustainability of Deutsche Börse Group, together with a few more speakers discussed how sustainability is becoming a decisive condition in the allocation of venture capital.
According to the panel speakers, despite all the innovation projects in the chemical industry, the efforts towards achieving CO2 neutrality must continue.
An integrated approach to the development of sustainability criteria and eco-labels were also discussed in the workshop “Sustainability in the Coatings Industry” that was organized by ORONTEC. Such standards and developments will make it easier for end customers to more objectively evaluate their sustainable processes.
Networking
In addition to keynote speeches and workshops, event participants were also able to e-meet in several thematic virtual rooms and debate on issues such as circular economy, technology transfer, patents and IPO. There was a virtual exhibition with company boots, along with a digital job exchange.
European Chemistry Partnering: A brief overview
The European Chemistry Partnering was created by Dr Holger Bengs, CEO of BCNP Consultants GmbH. The first event took place in 2017 and has been organized twice a year since 2018. The event focuses on innovation along the chemical value chain. It is aimed at decision-makers, innovation investors in the chemical industry and its user industries, as well as industry-focused stakeholders and qualified service providers.
